Story
The story starts on February 22nd, 2018 when Alex Gumm flew from Boston to Kauai. After one night in the Kappa Beach Hostel, Alex checked out and has never been officially seen from or heard from again.
Alex has not touched his bank account since he arrived on Kauai nearly four years ago, and after one cellphone call to a taxi company on the island during his hostel stay, phone records show it was never used again. Was this done on purpose? Or was there some sort of nefarious activity leading to Alex's disappearance?
Searching for Alex is the documentary series that chronicles the continued efforts to locate Alex Gumm. It is a detailed look at the life and work of a very intelligent and mercurial man, and efforts by his family and friends to find out if he is still alive.
